Welcome to our Computer Room

I will be teaching K-8 computers this year.  All classes will be working on typing.  I think this is very important because it is a technological world and communicating with a keyboard will be a must for any person. 

The lower classes will be using software that reinforces what they are learning in class.  They will also be using Kid Pix to draw and write.

The upper classes (5-8) will be learning Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.  They will be working on projects that will sometimes last several weeks.  I will keep their grades listed on Fast Direct but please note that there may not be grades posted each week since the classes will in the midst of of a project.  They will also be having typing tests throughout the year and I will expect their words per minute to increase as the year passes.  Please encourage your child to practice at home, since speed will come with practice.

I will be sending you a "Click" newsletter, (a Scholastic software club similar to their book club) where you can order software at reduced prices.  Most of the time the prices are quite a value.  It will offer you several typing tutors, including the ones we will be using at school.  Using one of these at home, could definitely help your child with his typing.
