Affton School District will again offer a remedial summer school program (pending state funding) for grades K-8 from June 8th – July 9th. If you live in the Affton School District and would like more information, please stop by the school office.

 

Kennedy Catholic High School Offers Summer Athletic and Academic Camps - John F. Kennedy Catholic High School is offering a number of camps for grade school students this summer. Athletic camps are offered in the areas of girls and boys basketball, tennis, softball, and volleyball, golf, track and soccer. Students may also participate in a Drama Performance Camp, Art, and Iowa Test Prep. Registration forms available at www.kennedycatholic.net under NEWS. De Smet Jesuit High School offers Summer Scholars, a one-week program designed for boys entering seventh or eighth grade with interests in science and computers, with an emphasis placed on the development of critical thinking skills. De Smet Jesuit High School also offers Summer Prep, a three-week program provides an opportunity to interact with other students from around the area while reinforcing skills fundamental for high school success. Open to boys entering the eighth grade, Summer Prep offers courses in math/algebra, creative writing and forensic science. June 14 – July 1. Arts

Masterpiece Art Camp at J.F. Kennedy Catholic High School. This art camp provides a variety of fun and unique projects to campers of all ability levels! We will be creating masterpieces using many different processes and materials including painting, sculpture, book-making, cartooning, tie-dye, mosaics, printmaking and MORE! Campers will improve artistic skills, knowledge or art, and creative expression. Minimum of 6 campers required. De Smet Jesuit High School offers Improv Camp – an introduction to improv, where boys entering grades 7, 8 and 9 learn to use audience suggestions to create dialogue, setting and plot into comedic performances. Led by instructors trained by The Second City, this week-long experience can be paired with speech/debate camp. Limited to 15 attendees. July 26-30. Other

Camp Happy Day (June 14 through July 23 8:30am – 12:30 pm) is a special camp for "Special Kids" who deserve a fun summer like any other child. This program is designed to meet the needs of learning disabled, behavioral disordered, attention deficit/hyperactive disordered, language impaired, mild autism and bipolar students ages 4-14. The blend of academic support, speech/language therapy and traditional day camp activities enables our campers to retain previously mastered skills while promoting positive self-esteem. Ongoing Programs

For parents of children prenatal to age three - all Mehlville School District residents with children prenatal to age three are eligible for free participation in the Mehlville Parents as Teachers (PAT) program. Children begin learning even before birth and learn more during the first five years of life than at any other time. PAT is an early learning program that supports parents in their role as the first and most influential teachers of their children. Participating families receive personalized home visits with a certified Parent Educator, periodic develop-mental screenings, newsletters and opportunities to attend parent/child work-shops and group meetings on parenting issues.
